AHEAD Affiliates Program

Overview

The Centre of Research Excellence in Achieving Health Equity for All People with Disabilities (AHEAD) aims to identify cost-effective policies that improve the health of people with disabilities in Australia. We are interested in collaborating with and supporting early, mid-career and senior researchers who are currently pursuing research in disability and the social determinants of health to join our team as an Affiliate.

Benefits

Our AHEAD Affiliate Program enables access to our network and the following opportunities:

Early Career Researchers

  • Support and mentoring from our research team (data specialists, health economists, epidemiologists and policy specialists), each Affiliate will be assigned a Mentor

  • Collaborative opportunities for future research projects and publications

  • Invitation to AHEAD meetings, training activities and public events

  • Opportunity to apply for seed funding for new projects

  • Career-building opportunities, e.g., presenting webinars, writing opinion pieces

  • Training in knowledge translation for the disability sector and policy analysts

Senior and Mid-Career Researchers

  • Networking opportunities across the six domestic universities involved in AHEAD, international Associate Investigators, and international visiting fellows

  • Collaboration opportunities for research projects, grants and publications

  • Information on the latest disability data developments

  • Invitation to AHEAD seminars, training activities and public events

  • Training in knowledge translation for the disability sector and policy space

As part of the Affiliate agreement, we ask that you:

  • Provide a bio and photo for the website

  • Participate in AHEAD meetings as required

  • Acknowledge AHEAD on all CRE-related outputs (e.g. publications, technical papers and media)

  • Align your affiliate status for the duration of your disability research

AHEAD will award Affiliate status based on the following:

  • Research experience and/or potential

  • Relevance of current research to our work programs

  • Feasibility and significance of current research

  • Potential to add value to AHEAD
