Lived Experience
Meaningful engagement of people with lived experience in research that concerns their lives is a fundamental principle of the disability rights and consumer-led movements. Such engagement is also critical in ensuring findings of this research program inform policy reform. As such, lived experience is a cross-cutting Research Hub of this program and will be utilised across the four Research Streams. Led by CIs Dickinson and Kavanagh, this hub will engage with people with disability, researchers with disability and advocacy groups (e.g. Disability Advocacy Network Australia) to ensure the priorities, views and values of people with disability are at the forefront of the research agenda for each stream. Our aim is to demonstrate an exemplary model of co-designed research throughout the conceptualisation, implementation and mobilisation of research.
